Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) Search

Type as much or as little of the medical subject heading as you wish. Punctuation is optional. For example:
  • neoplasms
  • bone neoplasms

The medical subjects used in GEORGE are the National Library of Medicine's Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) which may or may not match commonly used terminology. For example, "cancer" is not an official NLM subject heading, but "neoplasms" is. To determine the correct subject heading, try one of the following options:
  • Ask a reference librarian for assistance.
  • Try your subject as a keyword search, and then look at the subject headings of a relevant title.
  • Search for a heading in the NLM's MeSH Browser.
